Rio Tinto Group (

announced
the opening of Gudai-Darri, the company’s most technologically advanced mine, located in Australia’s Pilbara region. The mine boasts industry-leading technology, including autonomous trucks, trains, and drills, and “a full digital replica of the processing plant which allows teams to monitor and respond to data collected from the plant.” Simon Trott, Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Chief Executive, said:
“Gudai-Darri represents a step-change in the deployment of automation and technology within our iron ore business and a fantastic demonstration of the talent, ingenuity and capability that exists in Western Australia, a region which is now known globally for its technical excellence and innovation. shared
additional positive exploration drilling results from Fekola North and the Anaconda area in Mali. Highlights include drill hole FKD_64, which “returned 4.28 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 19.15 metres, from 529.0 metres,” and which according to the press release “provides strong support for ongoing evaluation of underground development of the deepest portions of the Fekola Mine deposit.” In the nearby Anaconda area, drill hole MSD_212, returned 8.09 g/t gold over 15.8 metres, from 431.1 metres, and “confirms the presence of high grade sulphide, approximately 100 metres below the limits of the current Mineral Resource pit boundary.”

reported
initial gold production from the La Yaqui Grande mine, following the ahead of schedule completion of its construction this month. John A. McCluskey, the company’s President and CEO, said:
“La Yaqui Grande represents another in a long line of discoveries that have continued to extend the mine life of the overall Mulatos Complex since it began producing in 2005. Given its higher grades and recoveries, La Yaqui Grande underpins a strong outlook for Mulatos with higher production and lower costs driving growing free cash flow in the second half of this year and beyond.”
Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (

posted
an update on construction activities at its Seguela gold project in Cote d’Ivoire. According to the press release, the project is 61 percent complete as of June 15, 2022, the majority of equipment packages are secured, and all major construction contracts executed and contractor mobilizations underway. Paul Criddle, COO Fortuna in West Africa, said:
“The Seguela Project continues to advance in line with our expectations through what is a challenging supply market. Seguela has transitioned through the design and procurement phases to now having much of the critical earthworks and civil works out of the ground ahead of the upcoming wet season, in line with budget and schedule. Activities at the project site are really ramping up ahead of planned gold pour in mid-2023.”
