Rio Tinto Group (
NYSE:RIO
) has
announced
an agreement with renewable energy tech company Heliogen to deploy the latter’s breakthrough solar technology at Rio Tinto’s borates mine in Boron, California. Heliogen CEO and Founder Bill Gross commented:
“We’re pleased to find a partner committed to cutting its contributions to climate change. We’re also pleased that Rio Tinto is exploring our technology to play an important role in helping reach its sustainability goals while dramatically reducing its energy costs. More broadly, we’re excited to take this important step as we pursue Heliogen’s goal of avoiding more than 1 gigaton of CO2 emissions – 5 percent of the world’s annual total – from the global economy by turning sunlight into an industrial energy source.”
White Gold Corp. (

) has
reported
significant soil geochemistry results from 2020 sampling and completion of a new structural geological interpretation at its Bonanza property in the Yukon, Canada. Highlights include a combined strike length of the multiple gold in soil anomalies and interpreted controlling structures of more than 6 kilometers, which remains untested by trenching and/or drilling. According to the press release, “these results will be combined with historic data over the coming months to define targets for drilling later in the year.”
Loncor Resources Inc. (

announced
further significant assay results from the drilling program at its 84.68 percent-owned Imbo Project in the eastern part of the Ngayu greenstone belt in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Hole LADD009, the deepest borehole drilled to date at its flagship Adumbi deposit, intersected “32.15 metres grading 6.17 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold (including 1.46 metres grading 94.77 g/t Au), 15.36 metres grading 3.73 g/t gold (including 5.89 metres grading 6.56 g/t Au), 5.00 metres grading 3.17 g/t gold and 7.45 metres grading 1.48 g/t gold.” Loncor President Peter Cowley said:
“These excellent results combined with previous results from the ongoing drilling program indicate that gold grades are increasing with depth. We continue to be excited by the results at Adumbi.”
Heliostar Metals Ltd. (
TSXV:HSTR
) is
beginning
the next field program at its Unga project on Unga and Popof Islands, Alaska. Charles Funk, CEO of Heliostar, commented:
“The 2020 drilling program at Unga demonstrated the district scale opportunity that the project represents. The favourable climate in southwestern Alaska allows an early start to our 2021 program and a longer exploration season to expand on last year’s successful work program. The three drill rigs will focus on expanding the open drill intersections at Apollo-Sitka, Aquila and SH-1 with an initial project goal of expanding the current resource to greater than one million ounces.”
